   On December 1 Japanese Ambassador ITO Naoki, along with chief representative of JICA Bangladesh Office Mr. HAYAKAWA Yuho, and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) Executive Chairman Mr. Paban Chowdhury, visited Araihazar in Narayanganj District to observe the progress of the construction of ‘Bangladesh Special Economic Zone’ (BSEZ) funded by JICA.
  BEZA, the implementer of the construction project appointed Toa Corporation to construct the economic zone site in 27th January, 2020. The contractor resumed their work in August after the lockdown due to the pandemic.
 A new special purpose company has already been established jointly by BEZA and Japanese trading giant Sumitomo Corporation to run the economic zone after its construction. Once the development project is completed, the economic zone will be able to accommodate around 100 companies.
