Construction work of Terminal 3 of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport starts

Groundbreaking ceremony
On 28 December 2019, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and H.E. ITO Naoki, ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh attended and gave speeches at the groundbreaking ceremony of terminal 3 of Hazrat Shahjalal international Airport. The third terminal is being constructed under “Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Expansion Project” in Official Development Assistance (ODA) of Japan to Bangladesh.

“Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is the gateway to the sky from the northern edge of the Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth-Belt (BIG-B) to the Asia-Pacific region. Big-B and the enhanced connectivity with the construction of this new terminal will accelerate economic development of Bangladesh to become middle income country.”, H.E. ITO Naoki said in the speech.

Japanese companies, Mitsubishi Corporation and Fujita Corporation and Korean company were selected to construct the third terminal under a consortium. The consortium is constructing an international passenger building, an import and export cargo building, a car parking and apron spots under the project.
