H. E. Mr. Toshimistu Motegi, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, visited Bangladesh

1. On 14th and 15th January 2019, H. E. Mr. Toshimistu Motegi, Minister in charge of Economic Revitalization, visited Bangladesh, in order to observe the situation on the ground regarding emerging enterprises and digital technology in emerging countries.

2. During his visit, Minister Motegi visited an IT service company that conducts offshore software development for Japanese enterprises and had a meeting with a Japanese entrepreneur who is providing educational IT service. Minister Motegi mentioned that Japan would like to contribute to digitization and tackling social challenges in Bangladesh.

3. At his courtesy call on H. E Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Minister Motegi heartfully congratulated on the inauguration of her fourth term as a Prime Minister. He also expressed that Japan welcomed that the elections were conducted with the participation of all major opposition parties as the result of the efforts made by all concerned people, and that on the other hand it was regrettable that various matters of concerns arose in the election process such as occurrence of many casualties. Minister Motegi also conveyed that Japan, as a traditional friend of Bangladesh since its independence, hoped that Bangladesh would continue on its path of democratic development, and that Japan intended to continuously support Bangladesh’s efforts for its development and prosperity, and further develop the bilateral relationship.
