Japan Provides Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other Equipment for Department of Narcotics Control Bangladesh through UNODC.

          
 

On July 10, 2023, H.E. Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and the delegates from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) attended the ceremony to hand over the Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and other Equipment , funded by the Government of Japan, to Department of Narcotics Control (DNC). Mr. Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Director General, attended the ceremony from the DNC.     

Ambassador IWAMA said that he was very pleased to be present at this handover ceremony. He also said, “Japan attaches great importance to the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”, a vision to secure peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Touching upon Bangladesh’s Indo-Pacific Outlook which was announced in April of this year, He expressed his hope that Japan will continue to work with Bangladesh through various practical cooperation to realize not only FOIP but also Bangladesh’s Indo-Pacific Outlook”.
 
Mr. Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Director General, showed his appreciation for the supports from Japan through UNODC. He also mentioned the significance of controlling drug trafficking in this region. At the end of the ceremony, as a time-tested friend and biggest development partner of Bangladesh, he requested Japan to stand by Bangladesh for achieving a drug-free nation and free,open,peaceful,secure and inclusive Indo-Pacific.
