Contestants Cut Brilliant Figures at Japanese Language Contest

Thirteen accomplished Bangladeshi linguists went all out at the final round of the 8th National Speech Contest in Japanese Language yesterday. They were among the applicants from nine language institutes.

Mr. Md. Fuad Hassan Talukder, a university student who loves Japanese animation, made a speech on how the Japanese characters mesmerised and motivated him to learn the language and culture. Mr. Md. Rasel whose speech title was “Street Food” introduced the audience his unique experience on Dhaka’s street foods. Both Mr. Talukder and Mr. Rasel got the first prize.

The Speech Contest in Japanese Language is annually organised by JUAAB (Japanese Universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh) and the Embassy of Japan, to encourage Japanese language learners to further excel in the language. The first prize winners will be invited to participate in the SAFJUAA (South Asian Federation of the Japanese University Alumni Association) Japanese Language Speech Contest, which will be held in Pakistan later in this year, as representatives from Bangladesh.
