Conferral of "the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays" upon Mr. Kazi Ghiyasuddin
On April 29, 2018, the Government of Japan announced the foreign recipients of the 2018 Spring Imperial Decorations. Among 140 recipients, Mr. Kazi Ghiyasuddin, Artist, received “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.” The conferral is in recognition of his great contribution to strengthening cultural exchange through promoting modern art in Japan and Bangladesh.
Mr. Ghiyasuddin was the first Bangladeshi to receive a doctoral degree in fine arts from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts in 1985, and one of the accomplished painters who have made a contribution to the Japanese contemporary arts. His works, representing the tradition and climate of Bengal, attract a lot of famous Japanese art critics and various artists. Moreover, many young Bangladeshi artists have been influenced by his works and studied in Japan.
