      On March 31, Ambassador SAIDA Shinichi hosted a National Day Reception at the Ambassador’s Residence to celebrate the 66^th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, welcoming H.E. Mr. Abu Zafar Md. Zahid Hossain, MP, Minister for Women and Children Affairs and Social Welfare, as the Chief Guest. More than 500 guests from various sectors, including the Government of Bangladesh, the diplomatic corps, the business community, and cultural circles, attended the Reception. H.E. Mr. Salahuddin Ahmed, Minister for Home Affairs, also joined the Reception during the latter half.
 
      In his remarks, Ambassador SAIDA welcomed the peaceful transition of power achieved through dialogue and stated that Japan, under the “Strategic Partnership,” will support the efforts of the new government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and further strengthen bilateral relations across a wide range of fields.
 
      At the Reception, Japanese companies and related organizations operating locally set up booths to showcase their activities. Japanese scallops, Wagyu beef, and other items were also served.
