Conferral of Foreign Minister’s Commendation upon Ms. KOBAYASHI Reiko

On November 6, 2025, H.E. Mr. SAIDA Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh formally conferred the Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Ms. KOBAYASHI Reiko on behalf of the Foreign Minister of Japan at a special ceremony held at the Ambassador’s residence in Dhaka. In the ceremony, Dr. Md. Ekhulasur Rahman, Chairman of Yamagata Dhaka Friendship General Hospital made a congratulatory remark.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and organizations with outstanding achievements in international fields, to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries. The Commendations also aim to promote the understanding and support of the Japanese public towards the activities of recipients.
Ambassador SAIDA expressed his sincere appreciation to Ms. KOBAYASHI for her contributions to promoting international cooperation in Bangladesh.
“Ms. KOBAYASHI, driven by a strong aspiration to “test her abilities in a place where medical resources are extremely limited,” first visited Bangladesh in July 1989. Between then and 2011, she made as many as eighteen visits to the country, dedicating herself to medical volunteer activities.”
“Since 2012, she has been serving as a nursing volunteer at the Yamagata Dhaka Friendship General Hospital, where she has provided nursing guidance to local medical staff while devoting herself to the care of numerous patients over many years.
Moreover, Ms. KOBAYASHI has carried out all of these activities on a completely voluntary basis, without seeking any personal reward. Her selfless dedication to others and her modest, sincere character command our deepest respect and admiration. ” said Ambassador SAIDA.
On September 5th, 2025, the Government of Japan announced the recipients of “the 2025 Foreign Minister’s Commendation.”
