Minister Takahashi Attends Hiroshima Day 2025 Theatrical Commemoration by Swapnadal


Minister Takahashi attended the Hiroshima Day 2025 commemoration event organized by the renowned theatre group Swapnadal at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the evening of Wednesday, August 6.
The event featured a moving theatrical performance portraying the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a tradition that Swapnadal has upheld annually since 2002. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Zahid Repon, Founder and Chief Secretary of Swapnadal, along with artists and students.
In his remarks, Minister Takahashi expressed heartfelt condolences for the victims of the student-led uprising that occurred one year ago, reiterating Japan’s resolve to support Bangladesh in its endeavor towards a peaceful and democratic transition. He reaffirmed Japan’s unwavering commitment to peace, as the only nation to have experienced atomic bombings during wartime. Reflecting on the devastation of Hiroshima 80 years ago, he honored the lives lost and underscored Japan’s responsibility to convey the reality of those events to future generations. He praised Swapnadal’s long-standing commitment to peace through the arts. He concluded by expressing hope for deeper Japan-Bangladesh friendship and a more peaceful future for all.
