Embassy of Japan representatives visited the project site of Japanese Grant in Kushtia District


Dhaka, June 2, 2025 - On June 2, 2025, First Secretary Mr. KARASAWA Shinju, and Second Secretary Mr. MAKIGUCHI Yasuyuki visited Kushtia District to attend the inauguration ceremony of the “The Project for Construction of Medical Waste Management Centre in Kushtia District” provided to the NGO “PRISM Bangladesh Foundation” by the Government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP).
The project is expected to solve the social and environmental problems caused by medical waste, and improve the health and safety of approximately 245 people involved in waste collection and disposal, and 1.94 million residents of Kushtia Pourashava, as well as the living and sanitary environment of Kushtia, Jhenaidah, Meherpur, and Chuadanga Districts.
“I hope this centre will contribute to improve the health and safety of people involved in waste collection, and the living and sanitary environment of the residents.”, stated First Secretary KARASAWA.
Japan has supported 221 NGO projects through GGHSP since 1989, with the view to enhancing economic and social human security in the grass-roots levels. The total sum of these GGHSP grants extended to approximately USD 17.5 million.
