Dispatch of Election Observer Mission from Japan to Bangladesh for General Election and Courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Hon’ble Chief Adviser of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh

The election observer mission of the government of Japan headed by Mr. Masato Watanabe, former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, is visiting Bangladesh from February 10 to 13 to support the fair implementation of the general election scheduled for February 12, 2026.
On 10 February, H.E. Mr. SAIDA Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, together with members of the Mission, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Honorable Chief Adviser of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
During the call, they paid tribute to his leadership in advancing the country’s democratization and political transition through dialogue, and conveyed their deep appreciation for his significant contributions to Japan–Bangladesh relations. They also expressed their expectation for the fair conduct of the upcoming elections.
In response, H.E. Dr. Muhammad Yunus expressed his gratitude for Japan’s support for the elections and for its dispatch of an election observation mission.
