Dispatch of Election Observer Mission from Japan to Bangladesh for General Election
The election observer mission of the government of Japan headed by Mr. Masato Watanabe, former Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh, visited Bangladesh from February 10 to 13 to support the fair implementation of the general election scheduled for February 12, 2026
Following the courtesy call on Chief Adviser Professor Yunus on the first day of the visit, the election observer mission and H.E. Mr. SAIDA Shinichi, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh visited several polling stations in Dhaka on 12 February to observe how the casting and counting of votes are conducted.
During their visit in Bangladesh, the mission also exchanged views and information on the election situation with Bangladesh Election Commission, some political parties, and the election observer missions from other countries.
