Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori attended the seminar “Reconnecting the Bay of Bengal Region: Exploring the Convergence of Interests” Jointly hosted by BIISS and IDE-JETRO on his last day of tenure in Bangladesh.




On Dec 22, 2024, Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori participated as the special guest in the seminar “Reconnecting the Bay of Bengal Region: Exploring the Convergence of Interests”, jointly hosted by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) and Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO) on the last day of his tenure in Bangladesh. Mr. Md Touhid Hossain, Honorable Adviser for Foreign Affairs also joined the seminar as the chief guest.
Mr. IWAMA, in his remarks, explained Japan’s vision for a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” which would bring prosperity and foster peace and stability in the region. He expressed his anticipation that Bangladesh would further cooperate with neighboring countries, and promised Japan’s continued commitment to work closely with Bangladesh in enhancing regional connectivity.
Mr. IWAMA’s remarks were given following the remarks made by the Chief Guest, Honorable Foreign Advisor Mr. Md Touhid Hossain, who emphasized the value of regional cooperation in unlocking the economic prosperity potential of the Bay of Bengal region.
