Courtesy Call by Ambassador SAIDA on H.E. Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh



     On September 29, Ambassador SAIDA Shinichi paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.

     During the meeting, Ambassador SAIDA handed over a congratulatory message from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan to Hon’ble President Mirza Fakhrul on the occasion of his assumption of office. Ambassador SAIDA stated that, building upon the strong foundation of friendship between Japan and Bangladesh fostered by the late President Ziaur Rahman and the late Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Japan would continue to support the efforts of Hon’ble Prime Minister Tarique Rahman toward building a new Bangladesh and further deepen and broaden bilateral relations across a wide range of fields under the “Strategic Partnership” between the two countries.

     In response, President Mirza Fakhrul expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the congratulatory message from His Majesty the Emperor. He expressed gratitude for Japan's longstanding friendship and development partnership with Bangladesh, including through the visit to Japan by the late President Ziaur Rahman in 1978. While expressing his high appreciation for Japan’s cooperation in various infrastructure development projects in Bangladesh, President Mirza Fakhrul also expressed his expectation for the further expansion of bilateral relations between Japan and Bangladesh in the years ahead.
