Closing Ceremony of the Group Art Exhibition “Origins of Vision”

The Embassy of Japan and HerNet Fine Arts & HerNet Foundation proudly concluded the week-long Group Art Exhibition “Origins of Vision” with a closing ceremony held this evening, July 26th, at the multipurpose hall of the Embassy of Japan.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Guests of Honor, Artist Farida Zaman, Architect FR Khan and Mr. Durjoy Rahman, Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation. Among the attendees were eminent artists, diplomats, and art enthusiasts. Ms. Alisha Pradhan, Chief Curator of HerNet Fine Arts and Secretary-General of the HerNet Foundation, and Mr. Monir Prodhan, Chairman of the HerNet Foundation, served as the principal organizers of the exhibition.

In his closing remarks, Ambassador SAIDA expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the successful conclusion of the exhibition. He highlighted that many of the featured artists had studied or trained in Japan, embodying a synthesis of Japanese and Bangladeshi artistic expression. He also noted that Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus had concurred to strengthen cultural ties during their meeting in Japan on May 30. He expressed confidence that initiatives such as this exhibition will deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral relations.

From July 18 to 26, the exhibition remained open to the public and welcomed a wide array of visitors, including students and cultural figures. As part of the cultural exchange, Japanese cultural programs such as the Tea Ceremony, Origami, and Ikebana were featured.

The exhibition featured 47 of Bangladesh’s most celebrated and emerging artists and paid a posthumous tribute to the pioneers of Bangladeshi art—Zainul Abedin, SM Sultan, Kibria, Novera, Rashid Choudhury, Quamrul Hassan, and Safiuddin Ahmed—through a rare public display of privately preserved masterpieces.

The Embassy of Japan extends its sincere appreciation to all contributors and looks forward to continued collaboration with Bangladesh’s vibrant artistic community.
