On September 27, the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh hosted a seminar entitled "Toward Improving Regional Connectivity and Realizing the Establishment of Industrial Value Chains in the Bay of Bengal Region, including Bangladesh and Northeast India”. In this seminar, Ambassador IWAMA Kiminori attended as host, and Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, Honourable State Minister for Foreign Affairs participated the Chief guest, Mr. Mahbubul Alam, President of the FBCCI participated as the special guest, and Dr.Prabir De, Professor of RIS, and Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, Distinguished Fellow CPD were present. Ms. HOKUGO Kyoko, Minister (Economic) Embassy of Japan in India also attended the seminar.
At the seminar, based on the new FOIP concept announced by Prime Minister Kishida during his visit to India in March, lively discussions took place on improving regional connectivity and establishing an industrial value chain connecting the Bay of Bengal to Northeastern India.
Japanese companies from India, who participated in the seminar, took the opportunity to visit the Matarbari Deep Sea Port Development Site, which could play pivotal role in this initiative.
