Japan’s 44th ODA Yen Loan (1st Batch) Signed Today

 
IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh with Ms. Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance and Mr. ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, Chief Representative, JICA Bangladesh office signed the Exchange of Notes and Loan Agreements.

 
On 27 June, 2023, H.E. Mr. IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and Ms. Sharifa Khan, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance signed the Exchange of Notes of the 44th Official Development Assistance (ODA) Yen Loan of Japan to Bangladesh.

The first installment of the 44th Japanese Yen Loan Package is 30 billion yen. (approximately USD 209 million).
Based on this agreement between the two counties, Mr. ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, Chief Representative of JICA Bangladesh Office and Ms. Sharifa Khan signed a relevant Loan Agreements.

"I’m pleased to be able to sign the Exchange of Notes with regard to 44th Japanese Yen Loan Package today. The loan package includes the "Development Policy Loan For Strengthening Public Financial Management". During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Japan, Prime Minister Kishida assured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to consider a new budget support loan, and based on this, the Japanese government quickly approved the loan in a Cabinet meeting. I hope it will help the Government of Bangladesh overcome the current economic challenges and contribute to further strengthening the relations between the two countries.", said Ambassador IWAMA at the signing ceremony.
 
  • The 44th  Exchange of Notes covers the following projects:
  1. Development Policy Loan For Strengthening Public Financial Management (loan amount: 30 billion yen)
 
  • Interest Rate: 1.60 % per annum
  • Repayment period: Twenty years after the grace period of ten years
