Inauguration of “KIBRIA - A Retrospective”

On the evening of November 18, the Embassy of Japan inaugurated an exhibition of the master artist Mohammad Kibria, titled “Kibria-A Retrospective” at the new Annex Building, Embassy of Japan, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh.
 
The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Society for Promotion of Bangladesh Art (SPBA) and the Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation. It showcases the best of Kibria with his 50 works, most of which have never been displayed publicly.
 
H.E. Mr. K M Khalid, Honorable State Minister for Culture, attended as a chief guest. H.E. Mr. Salman F. Rahman, MP, Advisor to Honorable Prime Minister has also attended. Mr. Anjan Choudhury, Chairman, SPBA, and Mr. Syed Durjoy Rahman, Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation gave a speech. Ambassador ITO Naoki made the opening remark.
 
Kibria received a scholarship from the Government of Japan to study at the Tokyo University of the Arts from 1959 to 1962. During his years in Japan, Kibria was greatly influenced by the Japanese aesthetics reflecting simplicity, learning from Japanese artist.
 
The exhibition is only open to invited guests till November 20.
