Inauguration ceremony of the Japanese printmaking exhibition on “Photographic Images and Matter: Japanese Prints of the 1970s”

In the evening of September 24, Hon’ble State Minister for Culture Mr. K.M. Khalid as the chief guest and Ambassador ITO Naoki inaugurated the Japanese printmaking exhibition of “Photographic Images and Matter: Japanese Prints of the 1970s” at the Liberation War Museum. The exhibition is jointly organized by Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh and the Japan Foundation.
Divided into two sections, the exhibition showcases “The Age of Photographic Images,” and “Images of Autonomous Matter,” giving attendants a sense of contemporary Japanese art trends in 1970s. The two weeks long exhibition will display award winning works of 14 distinguished printmakers and professors from Japan; as well as present wide range of palettes, styles, and tradition of Japanese printmaking.
During the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador ITO conferred Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendation to Honorary Professor Syed Abul Barq Alvi, Department of Printmaking, University of Dhaka, commending his great achievement in the field of printmaking and expressing appreciation for promoting friendship between Japan and Bangladesh.
In the evening of opening day, more than 100 visitors including artists and art students attended the ceremony and appreciated the arts of printmaking.
The exhibition will remain open to visitors till Thursday, September 29th. Sundays will remain closed.
