Japan Provides Drug and Precursor Testing Kits for the Department of Narcotics Control through UNODC

On September 8, 2022, H.E. Mr. ITO Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and the delegates from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) attended the ceremony to hand over the Drug and Precursor Testing Kits , funded by the Government of Japan, to the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC). Mr. Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Director General, attended the ceremony from the DNC.
Ambassador ITO said that he was very pleased to be present at this handover ceremony. He also said, “Japan attaches great importance to the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)”, a vision to secure peace, stability and prosperity in the region, and will continue to work with our partner Bangladesh to realize the vision of FOIP through various practical cooperation, including the capacity building of law enforcement agencies”.
Mr. Md. Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Director General, showed his appreciation for the supports from Japan through UNODC. He also mentioned that Japan has been a time-tested friend and biggest development partner of Bangladesh, and that Bangladesh would like to continue to cooperate with Japan to strengthen Bangladesh's control capability of drug trafficking .
