Ambassador ITO Naoki Made His Visit to Chittagong Hill Tracts

On June 9, 2022, Ambassador ITO Naoki visited Bandarban, to attend the handover ceremony of the “The Project for Providing Bus Service for the Students and the Community Teachers in Bandarban District” to be implemented by JAAGO Foundation supported by the Government of Japan through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security (GGHSP).He also had a meeting with Ms. Yasmin Parvin Tibriji, Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban District in Chittagong Hill Tracts on the day. On June 10, he visited Rangamati and met Mr. Raja Devasish Roy, the chief of Chakma Administrative Circle.
This is the first time for Ambassador Ito to visit the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
At the handover ceremony, JAAGO Foundation showed their appreciation for the support from Japan.
The Government of Japan has provided medical equipment, polytechnical institute and agricultural support to local NGOs in the Chittagong Hill Tracts through GGHSP.
In addition, those meetings covered a wide range of topics, including the history, culture, socio-economic situation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and shared an understanding of the challenges and problems facing the region and its future prospects.
