Congratulatory Remarks by Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh

Japan recognized Bangladesh as a sovereign country on February 10, 1972. The day of February 10, 2022 is the commemorative day which marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh. Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, delivered his congratulatory remarks on the occasion of this auspicious day. This video message was also screened at the ceremony of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh held in Dhaka on February 8, 2022.
1 Prime Minister Kishida expressed his pleasure at celebrating this milestone with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh and emphasized that Japan and Bangladesh enjoy closer ties than ever before today as a result of wide ranging exchanges, including those in the private sector and at the grassroots levels. Prime Minister Kishida also said that the similarity of the flags of the two countries symbolizes our special relationship.
2 Prime Minister Kishida emphasized that the "Comprehensive Partnership", which was announced in 2014 when he visited Bangladesh as Foreign Minister, has further developed into a more strategic one in recent years, mentioning the infrastructure projects under the initiative of the "Bay of Bengal Industrial Growth Belt (BIG-B)", the development of the bilateral economic relationship and Japan’s cooperation under the spread of the new corona infection. Moreover, Prime Minister Kishida said that Bangladesh is an important partner in realizing a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)" and expressed his determination to work with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh even more closely to elevate the bilateral relations to new heights.
