4th batch of COVID-19 Vaccines arrives in Bangladesh and final batch expected on August 28

On August 21, 781,440 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines manufactured in Japan arrived at Dhaka International Airport from Japan.
 
It is part of a total of about 3 million doses that the Japanese government will provide to Bangladesh through the COVAX Facility to meet the urgent needs of the Bangladeshi people. It is the fourth batch following the first consignment of 245,200 doses, the second consignment of 781,320 doses and the third consignment of 616,780 doses which respectively arrived on July 24, July 31 and August 3, totaling 2,424,700 doses so far.
 
On the arrival of the vaccine, a handover ceremony was held by the Government of Bangladesh, which was attended by Mr. Jashim Uddin Khan, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Sabuj Ahmed, Director of the Corona Cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other high-level officials from the Government of Bangladesh, and H.E. Mr. ITO Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh.
 
            “We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the generous support from Japan. Japan is our best long-standing friend. We will effectively utilize the vaccines from Japan and make best efforts for the quick and extensive rollout of the vaccines for the people of Bangladesh.”, said Mr. Khan.
 
“I am pleased that Japan has delivered the 4^th consignment of the AstraZeneca vaccines to Bangladesh today. We plan to deliver another 634,920 doses on August 28 and fulfil our commitment of over 3 million doses to Bangladesh. This is purely for the sake of the Bangladeshi people. We hope this vaccine support will contribute to the Bangladesh government's efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Japan hopes that fair, equitable and comprehensive access to safe and effective vaccines will be ensured in Bangladesh and I would like to reiterate that Japan will stand by Bangladesh in the fight against COVID-19 and will work together to contain COVID-19 as soon as possible.”, said H.E. Mr. ITO Naoki, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh.
 

২১ শে আগস্ট, জাপানে উৎপাদিত অ্যাস্ট্রাজেনিকা ভ্যাকসিনের প্রায় ৭,৮১,৪৪০  ডোজ  জাপান থেকে   ঢাকা আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে এসে পৌঁছেছে।

এটি জাপান সরকার বাংলাদেশকে কোভাক্স সুবিধার মাধ্যমে যে প্রায় ৩ মিলিয়ন ডোজ ভ্যাকসিন সরবরাহ করছে তার অংশ যা নাকি বাংলাদেশীদের জরুরি প্রয়োজন মেটাবে । এটি হচ্ছে চতুর্থ  ব্যাচ যা নাকি ২,৪৫,০০০ ডোজের  প্রথম চালান , ৭,৮১,৩২০ ডোজের দ্বিতীয় চালান এবং ৬,১৬,৭৮০ ডোজের তৃতীয় চালান অনুসরণ করে  যথাক্রমে ২৪ শে জুলাই ,৩১ শে  জুলাই এবং ৩  রা আগস্ট  এসে পৌঁছেছে , এখন পর্যন্ত সর্ব মোট ২৪,২৪,৭০০ ডোজ ।   

ভ্যাকসিনের আগমনে বাংলাদেশ সরকার একটি হস্তান্তর অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করেছিলেন যেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব জসিম উদ্দিন খান, স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়ের উপসচিব, পররাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের করোনা সেলের পরিচালক জনাব সবুজ আহমেদ এবং বাংলাদেশ সরকারের অন্যান্য উচ্চ পর্যায়ের কর্মকর্তারা এবং বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত জাপানের রাষ্ট্রদূত জনাব ইতো নাওকি।
 
“ আমরা জাপানের উদার সহায়তার জন্য আমাদের আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করছি। জাপান আমাদের সেরা দীর্ঘস্থায়ী বন্ধু। আমরা জাপানের ভ্যাকসিনগুলিকে কার্যকরভাবে কাজে লাগাব এবং বাংলাদেশের মানুষের জন্য ভ্যাকসিনগুলি দ্রুত এবং ব্যাপকভাবে ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য সর্বোত্তম প্রচেষ্টা করবো।  ’’ বলেন জনাব খান ।
 
“আমি আনন্দের সাথে জানাচ্ছি যে জাপান আজ অ্যাস্ট্রজেনেকা ভ্যাকসিনের চতুর্থ চালান বাংলাদেশে পৌঁছে দিয়েছে। আমরা আরও ৬,৩৪,৯২০ ডোজ ২৮ শে  আগস্ট  সরবরাহ করার পরিকল্পনা করছি যাহা নাকি আমাদের বাংলাদেশ কে প্রতিশ্রুত ৩ মিলিয়ন ডোজ ভ্যাকসিন এর অংশ । এটি সম্পূর্ণরূপে বাংলাদেশীদের জন্য।  এই ভ্যাকসিন সহায়তা কভিড -১৯ এর বিস্তার রোধে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের প্রচেষ্টায় অবদান রাখবে বলে আমরা আশা করছি । জাপান আশা করছে যে বাংলাদেশে ভ্যাকসিনের  সুষ্ঠু ,ন্যায়সঙ্গত এবং ব্যাপক ব্যবস্থা  নিশ্চিত করা হবে এবং এটি পুনরাবৃত্তি করে যে কোভিড -১৯ এর বিরুদ্ধে লড়াইয়ে জাপান বাংলাদেশের পাশে আছে এবং যত তাড়াতাড়ি সম্ভব কভিড ১৯ দমন করতে একসাথে কাজ করবে । ’’ বলেছেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত জাপানের রাষ্ট্রদূত জনাব ইতো নাওকি।
