Japan Decided to Extend Additional Support up to Approximately USD 17 million additionally in Cox’s Bazar through UNHCR, IOM, UNFPA, UNICEF, FAO, UNWomen, WFP, ICRC, JPF

         On January 30th, the Government of Japan decided to extend approximately USD 17 million as additional new support to the 'Rohingya' Refugees and the host communities in Cox’s Bazar. Since the massive influx of refugees into Bangladesh in August 2017, the Government of Japan had granted approximately USD 95 million to international organizations and NGOs. Adding this additional support, the total amount of assistance has reached to a total of approximately USD 112 million.
 
         The Government of Japan will extend assistance in Cox’s Bazar through the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the international Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UNWomen), the World Food Programme (WFP), Japan Platform(JPF). This support includes site management of refugee camps, community empowerment, shelter upgrade, child protection, WASH facilities, medical services and trainings, environmental rehabilitation, life skills and livelihood improvement and nutritional improvement.
