[3] Relay Essay by Japan Development Scholarship (JDS)
Fellow
(Dr. Md. A. R. Humayun Kabir, Medical Administration)
I obtained my Graduation in Dentistry (1st batch BDS
contemporary to 31st Batch MBBS) from Dental unit,
Rajshahi Medical College in 1996. After completion of
internship in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, I was
engaged for a couple of years in private Dental clinic. I
joined in Bangladesh Civil Service (Health cadre) on 16th
May 1999 as a Dental Surgeon in Upazilla level under
Ministry of Health & Family welfare. Of late, I have
joined as an Officer on Special duty in DGHS, Mohakhali,
Dhaka.
Since the beginning of my service, I have gathered a lot
of experiences from which few of them were professionally
unexpected and not amicable due to a great lacking of
Dental equipments, though remarkable quality of service in
many other sectors of Health is being settled to a
standard level. As a dental surgeon, I immensely sought
for the way to provide better health service for future
generation. “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
As proverb goes on ”A man sanno is a corpora sanno” to
give emphasis for a sound health. To create a healthy
nation there is a great necessity for health awareness
developing program in primary school level as these age
group will be the mainstream of our Manpower and will
ultimately lead our society. We must develop our Human
resource, by providing a sound health along with technical
education.
My research proposal “Health awareness developing program
amongst school going children” will positively enlighten
me to find the simple & proper method to maintain personal
hygiene specifically helpful by preventing some dental
ailments. Early management of some curable oral diseases
plays a potential role, to have sound health, which could
be achieved by developing health awareness. To implement
such an important health policy I must acquire
Administrative knowledge to correlate & coordinate
teamwork structure by some innovative & proper methodical
way.
I am privileged & honored, as in the next autumn I am
going to study in the field of medical administration,
Nagoya University, Japan. The study will guide my future
plan to contribute for the development of health services
by making friendly human networks, following the feasible
and adaptable way by which Japanese and other developed
nations proved it mostly beneficial for developing health
status especially in oral health. “Oral health for a
healthy life” was the slogan of World health day in 1994,
which have made me encouraged and sincere to present a
positive approach in my professional specialty.
I strongly assume that education is not a mere cramming of
written information, rather it is a continuous process of
sharing views with different expertise from various region
around the globe, as well as persuading ground level
experience by striding towards the roots. I am very much
happy to learn that the course is decorated to understand
not only academic knowledge and skills, but also Japanese
cultures and values through various activities; like
attending seminar, field trip, internship and so on.
Eventually this course will enrich my knowledge in the
respective field and to accomplish my objectivity.
I also expect that other JDS fellow will take influential
role to implement health awareness developing program
concerned to their respective field of study. Any sort of
advice, suggestion or comment is mostly welcomed and
realistically that would help me to ratify and uphold my
future plan which can give me a try to play a vital role
in health developing policy at national level as well as
international arena.
