Development Scholarship (JDS) 2010-2011
On August 16, 2009, the Seminar on Japan
Development Scholarship (JDS) 2010-2011 was held at the NEC
Building, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Mr. Harumitsu Hida, Charge d’
Affaires a.i, of Japan to Bangladesh, graced the occasion as
the Guest of Honor, while Special Guest Mr. Takao Toda, Chief
Representative of JICA and Mr. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, ndc,
Additional Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of
Finance and other officials of ERD, JICE were present in the
occasion.
Officials, who are in charge of the
foreign training program in each ministry and Bangladesh Bank,
were also present and they were requested by the speakers to
disseminate the JDS scholarship information within their own
organizations.
Mr. Harumitsu Hida, Charge d’ Affaires
requested the participants to encourage young and potential
candidates in their organizations to apply for JDS. JDS
contributes in enhancing the knowledge and skills of young
Bangladeshi officials so that they can play leading roles in
the socio-economic development of Bangladesh after the
completion of their studies in Japan.
Minimum qualifications for JDS program
are: being a BCS Cadre (Bangladesh Civil Service) or Class-1
officials of Bangladesh Bank, who are under the age of 40. JDS
offers following filed of study at Masters’ level in Japanese
universities: Public Administration, Economics, Environmental
Policy, International Relations. Application period is from 12th
August, 2009 to 14th September, 2009. Detailed

JDS is officially known as Japanese Grant
Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship, which is under
Grant Aid scheme by JICA. In the last eight years, a total of
167 JDS fellows were dispatched to Japan and over 110 fellows
returned to Bangladesh with their accomplishments and
ambitions to contribute to this country.
