Six New
Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers
And One
Senior Volunteer have arrived
On June 23, 2009, six new
Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) and one Senior
Volunteer (SV) arrived in Bangladesh in order to extend
cooperation in different sectors such as infection control,
primary education, machine tools and karate. They will work in
the public organizations of Bangladesh or NGOs for the next
two years.
Since March 1973, Japan
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has dispatched JOCVs
to Bangladesh in various fields such as agriculture and rural
development, forestry and fisheries, processing, maintenance
and management, civil engineering and construction, health and
hygiene, education, culture and sports. And in particular,
this time is a milestone of that cumulative numbers comes over
thousand, the total of 1005.
From 1973 to till now, 1000
JOCV have arrived in Bangladesh. At present, there are as many
as 46 volunteers are engaged in various activities throughout
Bangladesh and all of them can speak Bengali language.
The new JOCV members called
on Ambassador of Japan H. E. Mr. Masayuki Inoue on June 25,
2009 at the Chancery. Ambassador Inoue observed: “I wish you
to fully demonstrate your talents and skills for the benefit
of the people of Bangladesh”.
