Six New Japanese Overseas Cooperation
Volunteers Arrived
On March 24, six new Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers
(JOCV) arrived in Bangladesh in order to extend cooperation in
different sectors such as, infection control, rural community
development, primary education, and automobile mechanic. They
will work in the public organizations of Bangladesh for the
next two years.
Since March 1973, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
has dispatched a total of 999 JOCVs to Bangladesh in various
fields such as agriculture and rural development, forestry and
fisheries, processing, maintenance and management, civil
engineering and construction, health and hygiene, education,
culture and sports.
At present there are as many as 41 volunteers engaged in
various activities throughout Bangladesh, all speaking the
Bengali language.
The new JOCV members called on Ambassador of Japan H. E. Mr.
Masayuki Inoue on March 30 at the Chancery. Ambassador Inoue
told them: “I wish you to fully demonstrate your talents and
skills for the benefit of the people of Bangladesh”.
