6 Japanese Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCVs) completed their 2 years term mission successfully

On September 30, 2015, 6 JOCVs who are fluent Bengali speakers dressed in traditional Bangladeshi clothes attended the farewell party which was hosted by H.E. Mr. Masato Watanabe, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh. H.E. Mr. Yoshihiro Seki, Honorable State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who was visiting Bangladesh, also attended.
They were dispatched in Dhaka, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Feni in September 2013 and engaged in various sectors such as health, ICT and rural development. Their activities have further deepened the existing bondage of Japan-Bangladesh relation.
Since March 1973, Japan has dispatched JOCVs to Bangladesh in various fields, such as agriculture, rural development, health education, civil engineering, culture, sports etc. The total number of JOCVs amounts to 1,236 and 61 JOCVs are currently engaged in various activities throughout Bangladesh.
