Hiroshima-An unforgettable memory
From my childhood I have had a wish to visit Hiroshima. We have a reading assignment in our class four about the a-bomb attack on Hiroshima. The nuclear disaster mankind first ever experienced in Hiroshima. In my mind Hiroshima was a devastated, ragged and torn city. But after arrival in Hiroshima everything changes. This is a large and modern city. From the bus I want to see the a-bomb dome and the river. It is really a lifetime experience to meet with an a-bomb survivor. To know her experience, to hear from her is a great value for me. When she started to tell, sometime I felt what was happening in Hiroshima at that time. I was so depressed. We know from the books, from the pictures about Hiroshima. But to hear from an a-bomb survivor, sitting in front of her, to take photo with her and to handshake with her is unimaginable. Sometime I don’t believe I met with her. The most important thing she told that every child have the right to live a happy life. She carried in her life not only physical trauma but also mental trauma she didn’t realize for long time. They are in the public now and sharing their experiences with everybody. It will certainly effect to make a nuclear weapon free world and to make a peaceful world for everybody. I have a wish to meet with her again.
The peace memorial museum is a unique place. The actual picture of Hiroshima city before and after the a-bomb explosion is there. The Japanese people built the city from ashes. I saw the replica of the city, the area of hypocenter, the mushroom cloud of a-bomb, the pictures of wounded persons, the a-bomb that dropped with three parachutes. I was trembling to see the clock that stopped at 8:15am.I was not in me when I saw the uniforms of the students, launch boxes, tri-cycle of a little boy, the concrete structure that left behind, the shadow of a person left in the ground. I realize no other weapon can do this to mankind except nuclear. I realize 120,000 people died instantly but many more were left to suffer even up to this time and for future. The people who suffered only they knew their sufferings. We can just only imagine. To see the a-bomb dome I was excited. This is the only thing that stood still at that time. Our guide showed us where the a-bomb actually fell on a medical center above 600 feet in the sky. I was trying to see in the sky. Then we went aiyu bridge which was main target for t shape. Then we saw the bell for peace and everybody rang the bell for the peace of the world. We saw the monument of Sadako who died only in eleven. The school children of Japan make countless paper cranes every year. In Hiroshima I realize everyone has the right to live a healthy life. We want a war free, nuclear weapon free world full of peace.
