Japan Provides About 1 Crore Tk. to Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital

On 27th September, a grant contract was signed between H.E. Mr. Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh and Dr. Steven P Roy, Chief Executive Officer of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital, amounting to 122,093 U.S. Dollars, or approximately 1 Crore Tk with a view of facilitating the implementation of ‘The project for Installation of Equipment for Expansion of Eye Care Services for the poor’.
Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital was established in 1960 and has been providing basic ophthalmic services to all in the region. and putting its efforts into providing the finest eye care services.
It is in appreciation of the efforts being made by Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital that the Government of Japan has decided to support ‘The Project for Installation of Equipment for Expansion of Eye Care Services for the poor’. The fund will be specifically used for the installation of Steam Sterilizer, Washer Disinfector and Ultrasonic Cleaner on the newly constructed operation theatre suite. It is hoped that the project will ensure better surgical operations for the people of the region.
Ambassador Sadoshima while acknowledging the importance of this hospital to provide eye care facilities to the poor people of Dhaka city, expected that this hospital would contribute for improvement of eye health care services in Bangladesh and thus play a vital role in health sector development of the country.
The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) began its operation in 1989 and its primary objective is to support various development projects which enhance human security at the grassroots level. In Bangladesh, a total number of 170 projects have received the grant amounting to US$ 12,708,088 (Approximately Taka 104.2 Crore).
