The Inaugural Ceremony for Agrasara Healthcare Center

On 29th January 2013, the inaugural ceremony for Agrasara Health Center was held in Chittagong. This project was implemented by local NGO Agrasara Memorial Society of Bangladesh with support of the Government of Japan through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). Mr. Hiroto Sobajima, Second Secretary, Embassy of Japan attended this ceremony on behalf of the Government of Japan to commemorate the official opening of the center.
The grant for this project amounted to 86,575 US dollars, or approximately 59 lac Bangladesh Taka. Agrasara Memorial Society completed construction of the healthcare center and procured medical equipments, renovated sanitation facilities and a deep tube-well. Through this project about 1,700 people from the orphanage and an elderly care facilities will have access to healthcare services, safe drinking water and hygienic toilets. The Healthcare Center will also provide neighborhoods with healthcare services. It is expected that it will greatly contribute to improve health condition of the communities in the area through supporting sustainable practices of health sector development.
The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) began its operation in 1989 and has been contributing to social development at the grassroots level. In Bangladesh, a total number of 173 projects have received the grant amounting to US$ 13,057,235 (Approximately Taka 107 Crore).
