The Inaugural Ceremony for SURHID Vocational Training Center

 On 28th January 2013, the ceremony for completion of the project for Extension of SURHID Vocational Training Center was held at the construction site in Comilla. This project was implemented by local NGO SURHID with support of the Government of Japan through Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). Mr.Hiroto Sobajima, Second Secretary, Embassy of Japan attended this ceremony on behalf of the Government of Japan to commemorate the completion of the construction and inauguration of the center.

 The grant for this project amounted to 95,780 US dollars, or approximately 70 lac Bangladesh Taka. SURHID completed construction of the Center and procured training equipments. Through this project about 240 students per year will receive vocational training annually. It will ensure various vocational training for the youths aiming to equip themselves with necessary knowledge and skill. These will ultimately increase the income of the target groups through increasing employment opportunity for youths. It is expected that it will greatly contribute to improving socio-economic condition of the communities in the area through supporting sustainable social practice of self–help development.

 The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) began its operation in 1989 and has been contributing to social development at the grassroots level. In Bangladesh, a total number of 173 projects have received the grant amounting to US$ 13,057,235 (Approximately Taka 107 Crore).
