Conferral Ceremony for Mr. Muhammad Nurul Islam took place
- "the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon"

 On February 14, His Excellency Mr. Shiro Sadoshima, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, hosted a ceremony in honour of Mr. Muhammad Nurul Islam, a recipient of the 2012 Fall Imperial Decorations by the Government on Japan.

 On November 3, 2012, the Government of Japan has decided to confer “the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” on Mr. Islam in recognition of his great contribution to promoting mutual understanding and the enhancement of friendship between Japan and Bangladesh for more than 20 years.

 During the ceremony, Ambassador Sadoshima expressed his sincere appreciation to Mr. Islam for his longstanding contribution to promoting friendly relations between Japan and Bangladesh.

 Mr. Islam is the fifth Bangladeshi person who received the honour from the Government of Japan; the first is Mrs. Maleka Khan in 2001, who took part in such activities as opening the first Ikebana School in Bangladesh in 1975; the second is Dr. AKM Moazzem Hussain in 2004, who played a critical role in almost all voluntary-based organizations aiming to build a bridge between the people of the two countries for more than 3o years; the third is Mr. Momtazuddin Bhuiyan in 2008, who greatly promoted cultural exchange between the two countries for more than 30 years; and Mr. Zubayer Pasha Choudhury in 2008, who devotedly worked at the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh for more than 30 years.
