Dhaka: 27 September 2014
Press Release

The inaugural ceremony of the Project for Construction of the Youth Training Center was held on 26 November 2014 at CYC Yard, Ramu, Cox’s Bazaar. This project was implemented by the NGO- Young Power in Social Action (YPSA), with the support of the Government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP). Mr. Hideshi Sasahara, First Secretary for Development Cooperation and Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, attended the ceremony as the Special Guest on behalf of the Government of Japan to grace the inauguration.

YPSA received US$ 74,705 from the Government of Japan through GGHSP in 2012 to construct a two storied training complex for youth development in Cox’s Bazaar. The aim of this project is to provide need-based training facilities targeting youth communities in the region to uplift their status through creating employment. This training facility will add value to the capacity building of the target communities which eventually help them to become self-reliant. The Government of Japan funded this project to create a vibrant youth community which can contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.

The Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) began its operation in Bangladesh in 1989. Its primary objective is to support various development projects with a view to enhance human security at the grass-roots level. There is an increasing need for cooperation by the entire international community to realize a peaceful and affluent society in which everybody can live in a humane manner. A total number of 183 projects have been funded through GGHSP amounting approximately US$ 14 million to date in Bangladesh.
