Ambassador’s Commendation upon Dr. Md. Ekhlasur Rahman, Director of Yamagata Dhaka Friendship Hospital

On April 9, Ambassador Shiro Sadoshima presented Certificate of Commendation to Dr. Md. Ekhlasur Rahman, Director of Yamagata Dhaka Friendship Hospital. The Ambassador’s Commendation is bestowed on those individuals or groups who have made outstanding contributions towards friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and a foreign country.
Dr. Rahman received PhD in Orthopedic Surgery from Yamagata University in Japan in 1996 under the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho (MEXT)) Scholarship. Having earned trust and a strong connection with his supervisor in Yamagata University, he has been very active in introducing new techniques and equipment from Japan which has contributed to improving medical service in Dhaka. Influenced by the Japanese ethics, Dr. Rahman’s motto is “To put people’s lives first before one’s own benefit.”
Ambassador Sadoshima expressed his sincere appreciation to Dr. Rahman for his devotion for medical treatment. Among Japanese in Bangladesh, Dr. Rahman is known for his extra compassion for patients in need of emergency care, for example, by accompanying the patient all the way to a third country and by providing treatment during such transfer. Furthermore, Ambassador acknowledged Dr. Rahman’s close relationship with a wide range of leading experts in various medical fields which makes it possible for him to provides most suitable treatment for Japanese patients when in need.
